Overview
Zotero is an open-source reference manager for collecting, organizing, annotating, citing, and sharing research sources. It stores library data locally by default and can synchronize items, notes, links, and attachments across devices, while group libraries support collaboration. The desktop application and related services are developed by a nonprofit community project. Zotero’s documentation says its code is available under AGPLv3 except where a source file specifies otherwise; GitHub’s repository metadata reports NOASSERTION for the repository-level license. Official product sources reviewed here do not document a built-in AI feature.
