Overview
Telegram is a cloud-based messaging service with synchronized chats, groups, channels, file sharing, calls, bots, and Mini Apps across mobile, desktop, and web clients. Its platform documentation also supports streamed bot responses, rich messages, payments, and interactive services inside chats. Telegram publishes the source for its client applications and offers reproducible builds; the official Telegram Desktop client is under GPL-3.0 with an OpenSSL exception. The server-side code is not published. Current AI features include message transformation, translation, summarization, and AI bot interfaces powered through Telegram’s Cocoon system.
