remove.bg automatically separates foreground subjects from image backgrounds and can return transparent PNGs or images with replacement backgrounds. The service is available through a web upload flow, desktop and mobile tools, integrations, and an HTTP API for developers. Its official CLI repository supports batch processing and forwards options such as output size, format, background color, and image type to the API. The hosted image-processing product is proprietary, while the CLI is MIT-licensed. remove.bg's official API documentation announces a planned move to Leonardo.Ai on December 1, 2026, so the service is active on the research date but in transition.
